On November 5th and 6th, GirlsUp held its first event at USC’s Tutor Campus Center. The event was separated into two parts, where guests were invited to learn more about GirlsUp and listen to insightful speakers.

This event gained over 160+ RSVPS, which was astounding. We were absolutely thrilled to see that our first event was a success!

Pocket Sun, who founded GirlsUp, kicked off the event by introducing the female entrepreneur community to attendees. GirlsUp’s mission and upcoming events were presented, along with opportunities for involvement and volunteerism.

Guests were able to get a first taste of GirlsUp, while enjoying homemade cupcakes from Cream by Crystal, cookies from Audrey’s Cookies and baked goods from Hygge Bakery. Along with these popular sweets, guests were also able to enjoy some tea from Opportuniteas and juice from Leno’s Juice Bar. The founders of these businesses were invited to not only share their products with guests but their stories of how they brought their dreams to life.

On November 5th, speakers included Roberta Koz Wilson (Audrey’s Cookies), Greg Bastin (Opportuniteas) and Jay Zhou (Leno Juice Bar). On November 6th, speakers included Crystal Nicole Jones (Cream by Crystal), Ray Lee (Hygge Bakery), Sara Lundberg and Andy Davis (truBrain).

The event ended with a Q&A that turned into a great networking opportunity. Guests were encouraged to network with our presenters and sign up to be a member of GirlsUp!
